96-Well Clear Bottom Microplates, Corning®
By Corning®These Corning® plates have round wells with flat, clear bottoms that are 60% thinner than conventional polystyrene plates, resulting in lower background fluorescent and enabling readings down to 340nm. Plates are designed to reduce well-to-well crosstalk during fluorescent assays. Those with white walls enhance luminescent signals and have low background luminescence and fluorescence. Can be used for both top and bottom reading instrument. Total volume is 360µL with a recommended working volume of 75 to 200µL. Half area plates have a total volume of 205µL with a recommended working volume of 25 to 125µL. All conform to standard microplate footprint and dimensions. Lids are available separately. The Special Optics (Cat.No. 83-3615) 96-well microplates have black walls with ultra thin, clear bottoms for sharp, clear images and minimal background in fluorescent assays. Non-sterile.
Untreated (or medium binding) polystyrene surface is hydrophobic and binds biomolecules through passive interactions. Suitable primarily for the immobilization of large molecules such as antibodies that have large hydrophobic regions that can interact with the surface. Untreated microplates have a binding capacity of approximately 100 to 200ng IgG/cm2. High Binding surface binds medium (>10kD) and large biomolecules that possess ionic groups and/or hydrophobic regions. Binding capacity is approximately 400 to 500ng IgG/cm2. Ideal for immunoassays. The Nonbinding (NBS™) surface option is a Corning® proprietary treatment technology used on polystyrene microplates to create a nonionic hydrophilic surface (polyethylene oxide-like) that minimizes molecular interactions. Ideal for reducing protein and nucleic acid binding at low concentrations, and increasing assay signal to noise.
