Corning® Transwell® Permeable Supports
By Corning®Corning® Transwell® cell culture inserts are convenient, easy-to-use permeable support devices for the study of both anchorage-dependent and anchorage-independent cell lines. Designed to produce a cell culture environment that closely resembles the in vivo state, they allow polarized cells to feed basolaterally and thereby carry out metabolic activities in a more natural fashion. Unique patented self-centered hanging design prevents medium wicking between the insert and outer well. Permits access to the lower compartment through windows in the insert wall. Suspended design allows for undamaged co-culturing of cells in the lower compartment.
Transwell® Permeable Supports are available with a variety of surface treatments for a diverse array of applications. Tissue culture-treated inserts are available in polyester or polycarbonate formats, and are treated for optimal cell attachment. Once stained, they allow excellent cell visibility using phase contrast microscopy. Collagen-coated inserts are constructed from polytetrafluoroethylene.
