The medium wave TC-312R has six 15 watt UV-B tubes to provide extra-high ultraviolet irradiance that causes even minutely fluorescing objects to glow dramatically. The housing is vinyl-clad aluminum with an easy-to-clean stain-less steel filter frame. An internal fan reduces generated heat, assuring low filter surface temperatures and maintaining peak ultraviolet operating intensity. This low temperature along with the suppression of 254nm radiation lessen the effects of photobleaching, photonicking, and photodimerization. A unique diffusing screen eliminates light striations, giving excellent irradiance uniformity. An automatic timer prevents UV overexposure. Can be adapted for other wavelengths by changing filter assembly and light tubes.
