Whatman™ Inline Filter Degassers
By Whatman/CytivaAqueous and Solvent IFDs
These inline filter/degassers eliminate the need for preliminary solvent degassing and filtration. The Aqueous IFD provides purer filtration of aqueous-based HPLC mobile phases whereas the Solvent IFD provides purer filtration of organically based HPLC mobile phases. Specifically, the Aqueous IFD is designed to work with mobile phases containing at least 20% aqueous component. Both IFDs work on the "bubble point" principle. A "bubble point" is the pressure at which gasses will pass through a wet membrane. If the pressure is maintained below the bubble point, the gas will not pass through the filter. The IFD devices trap the gas and keep it from passing through the filter media. Air present on the inlet side of the IFD devices during operation can be evacuated through the air vent.
IFD filter housings are constructed of lightweight but rugged polypropylene and come with ferrule nut assemblies and an air vent on the inlet side with luer lock cap. The membrane filter medium used in the Aqueous IFD is 0.2µm nylon; the medium in the Solvent IFD is 0.2µm polypropylene.
O-rings included: 1/32" - 5/32" ; accepts different diameter tubing 0.8 mm-4 mm.
