Diamond pencil and magnifier for gas chromatography. J & W Scientific strongly recommends using a carbide, diamond or sapphire tipped pencil as well as a 20X magnifier to cleanly score its Megabore column prior to installation. Uneven column ends and jagged fused silica fragments can seriously degrade column performance and contaminate detectors.
