It may be used in the preparation of (2R^,4R^)-1-n-butyl-2-methyl-4-(2-oxopyrrolidin-1-yl)-6-methoxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline and (2R^,4S^)-1-n-butyl-2-methyl-4-(2-oxopyrrolidin-1-yl)-6-methoxy-1,2,3,4- tetrahydroquinoline.
