Application: For the measurement of metabolic activity and proliferation of living cells. The bioreduction of the dye reduces the amount of the oxidized form (blue) and concomitantly increases the fluorescent intermediate (red).
Application: Resazurin possesses a redox indicator character which is widely applicable in the field of biology and medicine. It is also suitable for viability assays apart from the detection of bacterial reduction in milk and has been used as a component in culture media for the detection of viable bacteria.Resazurin is used for the measurement of metabolic activity and the proliferation of living cells. The bioreduction of the dye reduces the amount of the oxidized form (blue) and concomitantly increases the fluorescent intermediate (red).
General description: Resazurin is a small N-oxide derivative of dihydroxyphenoxazone, which is commercially available as sodium salt. It forms the red, fluorescent hydroxyphenoxazone resorufin on reduction and colorless hydroresorufin on further reduction.
