Biochem/physiol Actions: | Tetrabromophenol Blue (TBPB) belongs to the group of sulfonephthalein acid-base indicators. It is employed in the potentiometric titration of the halogens with Hg2(NO3)2. In addition, it has been used as a dye indicator in urine dipstick test to detect proteinuria. In this assay, with increasing concentration of urinary protein, TBPB sequentially changes color from pale green to blue. Binding of TBPB to proteins is dependent on pH. |
