Application:	α-Hydroxy-γ-butyrolactone may be employed as starting reagent in the synthesis of series of seco-pseudonucleoside synthons via aminolysis. It may be employed as starting reagent in the synthesis of enantiomerically pure orthogonally protected δ-azaproline, via Mitsunobu reaction.
