Application: | Pentaerythritol tetraacrylate can be used as a monomer: • To synthesize polymer electrolytes for the fabrication of lithium-sulfur batteries. • In the formulation of UV-curable epoxy acrylate coatings, to improve their mechanical properties and performance. • To prepare multifunctional silicone acrylate prepolymers for use in UV-curable coatings, to improve their mechanical and anti-oxygen inhibition properties. • In the UV-curable ink formulations. |
General description: | Pentaerythritol tetraacrylate (PETA) is a hydrophobic tetrafunctional monomer that is majorly used as a crosslinking agent that facilitates an improvement in the surface morphology of the polymeric material. It can be synthesized by the suspension of pentaerythritol in the solution of triethylamine and dichloromethane. PETA can be used in coatings, adhesives, sealants, surface coating, and composites. Its reactivity and ability to form densely crosslinked networks make it an essential component in the formulation of UV-curable materials. PETA is also used as a key component in the preparation of biocompatible polypeptide-based interpenetrating network (IPN) hydrogels, which find applications in tissue engineering, drug delivery systems, or biomedical devices. |
