Application: | (R)-(+)-Propylene oxide is commonly employed as a chiral building block or intermediate in the synthesis of chiral compounds. For example, it can be used to synthesize cyclic propylene carbonate by the reaction with CO2 in the presence of a chiral catalyst. It is also used as a starting material for the preparation of magnetic resonance (MR) contrast agents that can be used for in vivo detection of β-galactosidase. |
