It is used to prepare cyclopropane and cyclopropane carboxylic acid derivatives by catalytic decomposition of ethyl diazoacetate in the presence of alkenes. It is also a useful reagent for the homologation of cyclic and acyclic ketones without the formation of epoxides as byproducts. |
