Application: N-(2-Hydroxyethyl)ethylenediamine-N,N′,N′-triacetic acid (HEDTA) can be used as an ionophore for the selective determination of Fe(III) ions by the potentiometric method. It is also used to form complexes with metal ions such as iron(II), copper (II), zinc(II), manganese(II), and uranium(VI) ions. Therefore, HEDTA plays an important role in the separation of f-elements and the treatment and disposal of nuclear waste.
