General description: Resistant to most acids, alkalis, and many organic solvents below 80°C. Vacuum or pressure is required to obtain significant aqueous flow through the porous medium. Can be made temporarily hydrophilic by soaking rod in alcohol.

For more permanent hydrophilic conditioning, soak in concentrated H2SO4.
