Application: | Biochemical Esculin ID Membrane is recommended to detect Group D Streptococci from pharmaceutical preparations, raw materials, cosmetic samples, etc. They find their application in various sectors such as the food and dairy industry, water industry, pharmaceutical laboratory testing, cosmetic industry, environmental and sanitary testing, clinical diagnostic, etc. |
General description: | Biochemical Esculin ID Membranes are substrate-carrying membranes used for rapid identification and differentiation of Group D Streptococci through characteristic color reactions. The membranes contain chromogenic substrates, which serve as the basis for microbe differentiation by color. The group D Streptococci are differentiated from non-group D Streptococci by the detection of esculin hydrolysis. Group D Streptococci hydrolyze the esculin to esculetin and dextrose. Esculetin reacts with an iron salt such as ferric citrate to form a blackish-brown colored complex. The reaction runs on a membrane that gets into contact with colony material. |
