Application: | Thiamine hydrochloride has been used as a keratin salts medium supplement for culturing log-phase fungus. It has also been used as a supplement of VB medium the minimal medium of Vogel and Bonner. |
Biochem/physiol Actions: | Thiamine hydrochloride is a cheap, non-toxic and efficient catalyst for the synthesis of amidoalkyl naphthols. It inhibits the production of shikonin derivatives by suspension cultures of Lithospermum erythrorhizon. Additionally, thiamine hydrochloride addition to apple juice concentrates reduces its patulin content. |
Biochem/physiol Actions: | Thiamine hydrochloride is a hydrochloride salt form of thiamine (Vitamin B1). It is crucial for aerobic metabolism, cell growth, transmission of nerve impulses and acetylcholine synthesis. |
