General description: | Coenzyme Q10 is the central electron carrier in mitochondrial respiratory chain, originating from food intake as well as from endogenous synthesis. It commonly acts in its reduced form to prevent lipid peroxidation in biological membranes and in serum low-density lipoproteins (LDL). It also tends to protect the mitochondrial membrane proteins and DNA against oxidative damage along with lipid peroxidation. |
