Application: Certified for use in Flemming triple stain with iodine for chromosomes; Newton′s crystal violet-iodine technique for chromatin and nucleoli; Lieb′s amyloid stain.
Application: Methyl violet 2B has been used to stain human lung fibroblast cells (A549) in in vitro antiviral assay.
Biochem/physiol Actions: Methyl violet 2B is a cationic dye with a triphenylmethane structure. It acts as a selective dye and facilitates the differentiation of Klebsiella pneumoniae from Enterobacter aerogenes and other gram-negative organisms. Methyl violet 2B is harmful if inhaled, swallowed or absorbed through skin, contact may cause damage to skin and eyes. Hence, the dye removal is of great importance.
