Application: Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid disodium salt dihydrate has been used along with Na2HPO4 and citric acid for preparing Na2EDTA-McIlvaine buffer. Aqueous solution of Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid disodium salt dihydrate has also been used for photocatalytic hydrogen production
General description: Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid disodium salt dihydrate, referred to as EDTA is a widely used chelator of divalent cations like Ca⁺². It can inhibit proteases dependent on metal ions, such as, calcium-dependent cysteine proteases. EDTA also acts as a chelator of the Zn ion, inhibiting metalloproteases that require zinc for activity.
