Biochem/physiol Actions:	Meropenem has been used as a reference standard in an experiment conducted to investigate the effects on in vivo efficacy caused due to chemical differences in three generic products of meropenem.

It acts against aerobes and anaerobes including E. coli, Klebsiella, Clostridium, Enterococcus sp. It is a common cause of mild transient aminotransferase elevations and can rarely result in clinically apparent, cholestatic liver injury.
