Application: Mueller Hinton broth is primarily used to determine the MIC (minimum inhibitory concentration) for several antimicrobial agents. It can also be used to cultivate fastidious organisms like Meningococcus and Gonococcus
Footnote: We offer two media types: the superior granulated GranuCult® and the cost-efficient powdered NutriSelect® culture media, depending on your needs.
The designations basic, plus, or prime are added to indicate the quality control level, from basic quality control to standard QC plus to prime for full regulatory compliance.
General description: Mueller Hinton Broth is used for determining minimal inhibitory concentrations (MICs). Mueller Hinton medium is recommended by FDA, World Health Organization, and NCCLS for testing the most encountered aerobic and facultative anaerobic bacteria in food and clinical material. The medium shows good batch-to-batch reproducibility, it is low in sulfonamide, trimethoprim, and tetracycline inhibitors and yields satisfactory growth of most non-fastidious pathogens.
