Application: Butyl acetate may be used as an analytical standard for the determination of the analyte in paint solvents by spectrophotometry, and in amorolfine liniment and carbamate pesticides by chromatography techniques.

General description: Butyl acetate can find wide applications in painting and coating industries. It can also serve as a substitute to toxic solvents used in the manufacture of acrylic polymers, enamels, vinyl resins, nitrocellulose and lacquers. It is generally prepared by the esterification of butanol with acetic acid in the presence of sulfuric acid. It can also be obtained via transesterification reaction of methyl acetate with butanol.
General description: This substance is listed on the positive list of the EU regulation 10/2011 for plastics intended to come into contact with food.
