Application: Basic fuchsin has been used as a lignin-detecting fluorogenic dye for fluorescence-based imaging of lignin in the basal internodes of three Brachypodium distachyon ecotypes.
Biochem/physiol Actions: Basic fuchsin belongs to the triphenylmethane group. Combining basic fuchsin with sulfurous acid results in the formation of fuchsin sulfurous acid, also referred to as Feulgen reagent or Schiff’s reagent. This reagent is responsible for the staining of chromosomal DNA. Basic fuchsin is also used for the staining of lignin in plant tissue samples.
Legal Information: Magenta is a trademark of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany
Packaging: 25, 100 g in glass bottle
Suitability: Certified for use for acid-fast staining with carbol-fuchsin, as ENDO medium, and as Schiff′s reagent in the Periodic Acid Schiff (PAS) and Feulgen techniques.
