Application: | Bovine Serum Albumin solution has been used: • in the incubation of 108 colony-forming units S. aureus for quantitative suspension assay to evaluate the antibacterial efficacy • as a component in bacterial broth culture as organic matter loading for control experiments to study the microbicidal impact of the sesamoid bone against Staphylococcus aureus • as organic matter loading in Ham′s F12 culture medium for quantitative suspension tests to observe the effect of antimicrobial action of the antiseptics |
Biochem/physiol Actions: | Bovine serum albumin (BSA) functions as a transport carrier for drugs. It is primarily used as a test model for studying albumin interactions with strong pharmaceutical agents. The ability of BSA to interact with many aromatic and hydrophobic molecules in the bloodstream makes it useful. In cell culture media, bovine serum albumin is frequently used as a protein supplement. The fluorescent property of BSA aids in emitting intensely upon excitation. |
General description: | Bovine serum albumin (BSA), a non-glycosylated globular protein, is synthesized in the liver without the use of prosthetic groups or other additives, making it one of the few plasma proteins without carbohydrate groups. BSA reveals distinct binding sites with varying specificities. Site-I and site-II are the most important ones, located in the hydrophobic cavities of subdomains IIA and IIIA, respectively. |
