| Biochem/physiol Actions: | N,N-Dimethyl-4-nitrosoaniline is used for the detection of singlet oxygen. Singlet oxygen reacts with imidazole and thereby bleaches N,N-Dimethyl-4-nitrosoaniline via oxidation. Bleaching of N,N-Dimethyl-4-nitrosoaniline is observed as reduction in the absorption at 438nm. |
