General description: | Dextran sulfate is a negatively charged sulfated polysaccharide, which is produced by the esterification of dextran with chlorosulphonic acid. It has antiviral, anticoagulant and adjuvant properties. Dextran is used to treat hemorrhage, burns, surgery and trauma. It enhances blood flow and blocks erythrocyte aggregation. Dextran decreases the risk of thrombosis and postoperative pulmonary emboli. It acts as a ribonuclease inhibitor. |
