| Biochem/physiol Actions: | Guanidine thiocyanate (GTC) is a powerful protein denaturant and can denature endogenous ribonucleases. It plays a role in separation of ribosomal ribonucleic acid (rRNA) from ribosomes. GTC in combination with phenol and chloroform can be used in isolation of total RNA from cells and tissues. |
