General description: Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons - Water Pollution (PAHs - WP) proficiency testing material is produced in accordance with ISO/IEC 17043:2010. Also referred to as non-Potable water or Water Pollution sample, this product is produced according to TNI requirements. However, please note, this sample may include non-TNI analytes as well. The higher criteria from the TNI tables mimic the levels common to wastewater samples. The PT portfolio allows our test components to offer significant performance data to monitor and prove competency to customers, accreditation bodies or both.

Supelco® is a global proficiency testing (PT) provider that manufactures best-in-class environmental and pharmaceutical PT products. Most water PT samples are available as concentrates or ready-to-use volumes giving the end-user flexibility in selecting samples that will fit their exact needs. Our WP program is designed to meet the quality assurance requirements, thereby ensuring the analytical competence of your laboratory.
These samples are typically provided in duplicate for use in case of lab mishap, for QC purposes or to analyze multiple methods.

Preparation Note: Description

• This PT sample is packaged as a 1.5 mL concentrate.
• The solvent for this sample is acetone.
• The PT sample is not preserved.

Sample Preparation

• This ampule contains a concentrate of PAH compounds in acetone.
• When prepared according to instructions, the concentration of each analyte will be less than 200 μg/L.
• To prepare solution, add 1 L of reagent water to a 2 L separatory funnel.
• Open ampule PE1173-2ML (be careful to avoid cuts on glass) and transfer exactly 1.0 mL of the concentrate to the separatory funnel.
• Mix well.
• The sample is now ready for analysis.
• For calculations, assume initial sample volume was 1000 mL.

NOTE: This sample may be used for method 8270D-SIM-SV (small volume), or equivalent method. To ensure sample integrity, we recommend preparing the same small volume as you normally test. For instance, if your small volume sample is 125 mL, the PT should be diluted 125 μL of concentrate to 125 mL of water (1:1000 dilution).
Storage and Stability: Please refer to sample label for expiration date, specific storage temperature, and specific storage conditions.
