General description: | YPD agar is a complete yeast culture medium for most yeast species, especially for Saccharomyces cerevisiae. It is also known as YEPD and comprises of yeast extract, bacteriological peptone, glucose, and agar. The components of this media provide all the necessary nutrients for yeast growth. The essential vitamins, minerals and amino acids in the medium acts carbon and nitrogen source. |

Preparation Note: | 1. Suspend 65 g in 1 L of distilled water. 2. Heat to boiling while stirring to dissolve all ingredients completely. 3. Autoclave for 15 minutes at 121°C. |
