General description: | Iron (III) oxide (Fe2O3) is an inorganic compound. It is one of the three main types of iron oxide. The other two are the rare iron (II) oxide (FeO) and the naturally occurring iron (II, III) oxide (Fe3O4), found in the mineral magnetite. In the steel industry Fe2O3 is the primary source of iron. In addition to being ferromagnetic, Fe2O3 is easily attacked by acids. |
