Application: | Iron(II) chloride tetrahydrate can be used as a catalyst in the:• Solvent-free Ritter reaction of nitriles with various halohydrocarbons to synthesize N-substituted amides. • Synthesis of ketones via indirect hydration of alkynes. • Stereoselective reduction of α, β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds to the corresponding saturated alcohols in the presence of lithium and DTBB. It can also be used as a precursor to prepare iron-bisphosphine complex, which can be used to catalyze Kumada-Tamao-Corriu coupling. |
