General description: | Nickel (II) sulfate hexahydrate (NiSO4·6H2O), commonly called retgersite, is a naturally occurring enantiomorphic mineral. It crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/c. Crystal structure of its various polymorphic forms have been investigated. The chiral nickel sulfate hexahydrate has been reported to induce asymmetric autocatalysis. The thermal degradation behavior of nickel(II) sulfate(VI) hexahydrate in air and helium atmosphere has been studied using thermogravimetry (TG) and X-ray powder diffraction (XRD). |
