Application: Magnesium chloride hexahydrate has been used to prepare renaturation buffer that is employed for the renaturation of denatured peptidoglycan (PGN) hydrolytic enzymes. It may be used as a catalyst in the preparation of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2-(1H)-ones.
General description: Magnesium chloride hexahydrate (MgCl2·6H2O) is an inorganic salt that can be generated from the acid leach solution of magnesite tailings. It is a potential phase change material (PCM) for storing thermal energy in solar cookers. The result of altering poly (vinyl alcohol)(PVA) films with MgCl2·6H2O has been investigated. The ability of MgCl2·6H2O to reduce the flammability of cotton fabrics has been studied.
