Application: Sparfoxacin is used to study antimicrobial activity against Mycobacteria and respiratory tract infections .
Biochem/physiol Actions: Sparfloxacin fluoroquinolone antibiotic that inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and/or topoisomerase IV. It inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase-dependent processes such as DNA polymerization, ATP-dependent-DNA supercoiling, and chromosome fragmentation.
