Application: | Indigo carmine has been used in agarose plates to study behavioral feeding assays in Drosophila larvae. It has also been used for macroscopic assessment of intestinal adenomatous polyps isolated from mice. |
Biochem/physiol Actions: | Indigo carmine is a contrast dye which helps in highlighting mucosal changes. It accumulates in crevices, cysts and foveolae and stains the tissue blue. The abnormal tissue remains translucent pink. |
