Biochem/physiol Actions:	Tocopherol exhibits antioxidant property by protecting the cells and membranes from oxidative stress. In plants, high levels of α-tocopherol leads to plant stress tolerance whereas low levels is associated with oxidative stress. In humans, tocopherol prevents cancer, premature aging, atherosclerosis, arthritis caused due to free radicals. Vitamin E succinate (VES) is an anti-tumor analog of vitamin E.
General description:	Tocopherol is a lipid soluble vitamin E. It is present in food sources, such as soybean, almond oil, sunflower oil. Tocopherol has four isoforms in plants, which are α, β, γ and δ. It is composed of a chromanol ring with varied position of methyl group. D-αTocopherol succinate is also known as vitamin E succinate (VES).
