Application:	Clarithromycin has been used to study its effect on the potassium channel KCNJ5^WT.
Biochem/physiol Actions:	Clarithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic that interferes with bacterial protein synthesis. Clarithromycin is an acid-stable version of erythromycin and is particularly effective against Gram-negative bacteria. It has a short half-life, however its metabolite, 14-hydroxy clarithromycin is nearly twice as active as clarithromycin against certain bacteria.
Biochem/physiol Actions:	Clarithromycin is stable in gastric acid.
Biochem/physiol Actions:	Clarithromycin possess bactericidal activity including anti-mycobacterial activity against Mycobacterium leprae, and M.avium complex.
