| Application: | Monoclonal Anti-SLC22A2 antibody produced in mouse has been used in immunostaining. |
| Biochem/physiol Actions: | Solute carrier family 22 member 2 (SLC22A2) is involved in the transport of cationic substances like drugs, toxins, waste metabolites like creatinine, neurotransmitters etc., from the kidney. Expression of SLC22A2 in kidney is regulated by methylation of the promoter region. The major substrate for SLC22A2 is metformin, an anti-diabetic agent. Lack of SLC22A2 leads possibly to drug toxicity as these substances are not eliminated from the body. Imipramine, clonidine, verapamil, quinidine, carvedilol, interact with SLC22A2 by hydrophobic interaction and leads to its inhibition. |

| Features and Benefits: | Prestige Antibodies® are highly characterized and extensively validated antibodies with the added benefit of all available characterization data for each target being accessible via the Human Protein Atlas portal linked just below the product name at the top of this page. The uniqueness and low cross-reactivity of the Prestige Antibodies® to other proteins are due to a thorough selection of antigen regions, affinity purification, and stringent selection. Prestige antigen controls are available for every corresponding Prestige Antibody and can be found in the linkage section. Every Prestige Antibody is tested in the following ways: • IHC tissue array of 44 normal human tissues and 20 of the most common cancer type tissues. • Protein array of 364 human recombinant protein fragments. |
| General description: | Solute carrier family 22 member 2 (SLC22A2) also known as organic cation transporter 2 (OCT2), is expressed prominently in the basolateral membrane of epithelial cells of kidney, especially in the proximal renal tubule. SLC22A2 possess 12 transmembrane domains and is the integral plasma membrane protein. In the human, SLC22A2 gene is mapped to chromosome 6q26. |
| Immunogen: | solute carrier family 22 (organic cation transporter), member 2, recombinant protein epitope signature tag (PrEST) Sequence ESPRWLISQNKNAEAMRIIKHIAKK Epitope Binds to an epitope located within the peptide sequence KNAEAMRIIKHIAKK as determined by overlapping synthetic peptides. |
