Application: | Protein lysates of mouse forebrains were analyzed by western blot using rabbit anti-myc. In addition, immunocytochemistry of PC12 cells fixed in 4% paraformaldhyde was performed using rabbit anti-myc at a 1:500 dilution and 4 degrees incubation overnight. |
Biochem/physiol Actions: | MyC is an immediate early response protein that is regulated by multiple signal transduction pathways. It is a highly amplified oncogene in many human cancers and is commonly found altered by chromosomal translocations. MyC plays a role in tumor initiation, proliferation of cells and tumor maintenance. |
