| Biochem/physiol Actions: | Secreted Frizzled-related protein 1 (SFRP1) is a secreted antagonist of Wnt signaling pathway. It is secreted in excess amounts during DNA damage- or oxidative stress-induced cellular senescence. SFRP1 is a modulator of normal and malignant hematopoiesis and cell proliferation. Gene polymorphisms, aberrations and methylation of SFRP1 is a feature in bladder cancers resulting in excessive activation of Wnt pathway. |
