| Biochem/physiol Actions: | TFAP2A is a transcription factor that has both activator and repressor activities. The genes regulated by TFAP2A are involved in cell-type-specific proliferation and differentiation during embryonic development. Anomalies of TFAP2A have been observed in branchiooculofacial syndrome. Abnormalities in TFAP2A protein contribute to abnormal maturation in placenta in high-risk pregnancies. |
