Biochem/physiol Actions: The ligand-activated transcription factor farnesoid X receptor (FXR/NR1H4) plays a key role in metabolic regulation and liver protection. FXR modulates bile acid, lipid and glucose metabolism. It participates in the modulation of bile acid synthesis, secretion and transport. Mutation in this gene results in familial intrahepatic cholestasis.
Biochem/physiol Actions: The NR1H4 gene encodes a protein that has a central role in lipid homeostasis and also regulates carbohydrate metabolism.

General description: Farnesoid X receptor (FXR/NR1H4) belongs to the nuclear receptor (NR) superfamily. It is a receptor of bile acids (BAs). FXR is expressed in liver, intestine, kidney and adrenal gland. This gene is located on human chromosome 12q23. It has n N-terminal DNA binding domain (DBD) and the C-terminal ligand binding domain (LBD).
Immunogen: Synthetic peptide directed towards the middle region of human NR1H4
