Application: | Anti-EIF4G3 polyclonal antibody is used to tag eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4 gamma 3 proteins for detection and quantitation by Western blotting and in cells and tissues by immunohistochemical (IHC) techniques. It is used as a probe to study the role of eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4 gamma 3 in the initiation of mRNA translation and as a target of CTL cells during infectious virus assault. |
Biochem/physiol Actions: | EIF4G3 is probable component of the protein complex eIF4F, which is involved in the recognition of the mRNA cap, ATP-dependent unwinding of 5′-terminal secondary structure and recruitment of mRNA to the ribosome. It is thought to be a functional homolog of EIF4G1. |

General description: | Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4 gamma 3 (EIF4G3) is involved in protein translation within the mammalian mRNA ribosome complex. EIF4G3 has been shown to be a target of cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) produced granzyme B (GrB) suggesting that EIF4G3 may be targeted by CTL cells as a mechanism to inhibit the use of host translational machinery by infectious viruses. |
Immunogen: | Synthetic peptide directed towards the N terminal region of human EIF4G3 |
Physical form: | Purified antibody supplied in 1x PBS buffer with 0.09% (w/v) sodium azide and 2% sucrose. |
Sequence: | Synthetic peptide located within the following region: TAASDQKQEEKPKPDPVLKSPSPVL |
Specificity: | Anti-EIF4G3 polyclonal antibody reacts with human, mouse, rat, and bovine eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4 gamma 3 proteins. |
