Application: Anti-HNRPAB polyclonal antibody is used to tag the heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A/B for detection and quantitation by Western blotting and in plasma by immunohistochemical (IHC) techniques. It is used as a probe to determine the roles of heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A/B in processes such as neural development and survival.
Biochem/physiol Actions: Anti-HNRPAB polyclonal antibody reacts with human, mouse, rat, bovine, canine, zebrafish, pig, and chicken heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A/B proteins.
Biochem/physiol Actions: This gene belongs to the subfamily of ubiquitously expressed heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs). The hnRNPs are produced by RNA polymerase II and are components of the heterogeneous nuclear RNA (hnRNA) complexes. They are associated with pre-mRNAs in the nucleus and appear to influence pre-mRNA processing and other aspects of mRNA metabolism and transport. The hnRNP proteins have distinct nucleic acid binding properties. The protein encoded by this gene, which binds to one of the components of the multiprotein editosome complex, has two repeats of quasi-RRM (RNA recognition motif) domains that bind to RNAs.This gene belongs to the subfamily of ubiquitously expressed heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs). While all of the hnRNPs are present in the nucleus, some seem to shuttle between the nucleus and the cytoplasm. The hnRNP proteins have distinct nucleic acid binding properties. The protein encoded by this gene, which binds to one of the components of the multiprotein editosome complex, has two repeats of quasi-RRM (RNA recognition motif) domains that bind to RNAs. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described for this gene.

General description: Heterogeneous Nuclear Ribonucleoproteins (hnRNP) are RNA binding proteins that form complexes with heterogeneous nuclear RNA (hnRNA). HnRNPs regulate pre-mRNA processing, metabolism and nuclear cytoplasmic shuttling. Specific hnRNPs have unique nucleic acid binding properties. HnRNP A/B which is upregulated by TGF-β has been shown to regulated neural development and neuron cell survival after glutamate stimulation.
