| Biochem/physiol Actions: | SLC7A8 also referred to as LAT2 is an L-type neutral amino acid transporter present in the epithelium of kidney proximal tubules and the digestive tract. LAT2 preferentially selects branched-chain amino acids as substrates and transports them across membranes. It has been reported that LAT2 activates the pathway mediated by mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1) in the glomerular epithelial cells and has a role in the pathogenesis of crescentic glomerulonephritis. |
