Application: | Anti-TGFBR2 polyclonal antibody is used to tag transforming growth factor, β receptor II for detection and quantitation by Western blotting and in plasma by immunohistochemical (IHC) techniques. It is used as a probe to determine the roles of transforming growth factor, β receptor II in TGF-β signaling and regulation of cell proliferation. |
Biochem/physiol Actions: | TGFBR2 is a member of the Ser/Thr protein kinase family and the TGFB receptor subfamily. The protein is a transmembrane protein that has a protein kinase domain, forms a heterodimeric complex with another receptor protein, and binds TGF-beta. This receptor/ligand complex phosphorylates proteins, which then enter the nucleus and regulate the transcription of a subset of genes related to cell proliferation. Mutations in its gene have been associated with Marfan Syndrome, Loeys-Deitz Aortic Aneurysm Syndrome, and the development of various types of tumors. This gene is a member of the Ser/Thr protein kinase family and the TGFB receptor subfamily. Alternate transcriptional splice variants, encoding different isoforms, have been characterized. |

General description: | Transforming growth factor, β receptor II (70/80 kDa) (TGFBR2, HNPCC6, MFS2, RIIC) is a transmembrane ser/thr protein kinase family receptor for TGF-β (TGFB). TGFBR2 mediate TGF-β cell signaling to regulate/inhibit cell proliferation. Defective TGFBR2 is associated with Marfan syndrome. |
