| Biochem/physiol Actions: | LETM1 (leucine zipper-EF-hand containing transmembrane protein 1) gene encodes a single-pass membrane protein localized in the inner mitochondrial membrane. It plays a pivotal role in maintaining the mitochondrial tubular shape as well as cristae organization. It also facilitates the normal mitochondrial morphology and cellular viability. Mutation in LETM1 gene leads to Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome. |
