Biochem/physiol Actions: | Junctophilin 2 (JPH2; CMH17) is a member of the junctophilin family. The members of this family form the junctional complexes present between the plasma membrane and the endoplasmic/sarcoplasmic reticululm. JPH2 couples the sarcolemmal and the intracellular calcium channels in the skeletal and cardiac muscle. The expression of JPH2 is essential for the formation of postnatal T-tubule in mammals. Dysregulation of junctophilins result in a variety of cardiac disorders. |
