| Biochem/physiol Actions: | Gal-8 activates Rho signaling in TM cells and hence facilitates the regulation of cytoskeletal rearrangement in trabecular meshwork cells. Galectin-8 interacts with integrin and modulates its interaction with the extracellular matrix and hence inhibits cell adhesion and induces apoptosis. Additionally, it also has a role in modulating cell adhesion and cell growth. |
