| Biochem/physiol Actions: | Tumor protein p53 binding protein (T153BP1) has a close link to ataxia-telangiectasia mutated (ATM)-regulated events. 53BP1 becomes phosphorylated by ATM in a DNA damage-dependent manner suggesting that it participates in propagating the ATM signaling to its downstream effectors. T153BP1 also plays a key role in DNA repair by mediating nonhomologous end-joining (NHEJ) near double stranded breaks (DSBs). Fusion of T153BP1 with platelet-derived growth factor receptor beta (PDGFRβ) is implicated in a type of myeloproliferative disorder accompanied with eosinophilia. |

| General description: | Tumor protein p53 binding protein (T153BP1) is mapped to human chromosome 15q15.3. It has methylated histone-binding module and tandem tudor domains. |
| Immunogen: | synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 1955-1972 of human 53BP1, conjugated to KLH via an N-terminal added cysteine residue. This sequence is conserved in mouse, and differs from rat by one amino acid |
